Beachy Attire

This past weekend I visited my younger sister in the Sunshine State, beautiful Florida.  I could not have asked for a better weekend weather wise.  Coming from up north, where we are still experiencing some colder days, the sunshine and the salty air was such a welcomed change.  I have been dying to bring out some of my summer clothing and this weekend was a perfect chance to do so.  I love beach fashion, its so easy, carefree and most importantly – COLORFUL.  Here are my key items for any weekend beach escape.

A Multi-Use Summer Dress : I recently partnered up with The Mint Julep Boutique and was lucky enough to be able to model one of their adorable fashion forward sundresses.  My Stop and Smell The Flowers dress will 100% become a staple item in my summer wardrobe – I love that I could wear it on the beach as a cover up once it got chillier, and then later in the evening throw on some heels and earrings to make it dinner appropriate.  Versatile pieces are everything to me in the summer months when I am constantly on the go.

A Great Bathing Suit : You can spend $150 or $15 on a swim suit, it doesn’t matter as long as that thing makes you feel confident.  I am incredibly self conscious when it comes to swimwear, especially the first time I put a suit on after a long winter – so it is crucial to find one that makes you feel good about yourself.  I personally LOVE Target swimwear – and if you hurry over, it is buy one get one 50% all suits!!!  I think they have done a great job translating trends into price-points everyone can get behind.  Plus, they give you the option to mix and match sizes, colors, shapes – which makes the process more fun and less stressful!

A Killer Cover-Up : The days of wearing a baggy T-shirt over your suit are long gone babes…investing in a great cover-up will do wonders for your beach appearance.  Most times when I am at the beach, I get what I like to call “Sun ADHD.”  I want to walk everywhere, see everything, eat every ice cream cone at every ice cream shop and over course, grab a beer from a beach front bar.  The only problem, you need clothing to go into any of these places – that’s where a great cover up comes in.  Slip it on, you instantly look cute despite the sea-grunge in your hair and the sand in places you wish it wasn’t – you are good to go! Stores like Burlington and TJ Maxx are making finding a fabulous cover up easier than ever, without breaking the bank.  I got mine from Burlington for $19.99.

What are your must-have beach items and/or looks? XO.
