NYC in one weekend

It is tough to narrow down all of the amazing things New York City has to offer into just one 48 hour span…..but believe me – it is do-able. Last weekend I only had one full day in the city so I really packed in as much as I could.  To effectively see NYC in a short period of time, a game plan is definitely a must.  We were staying in the Seaport District so we catered our visit to what was closer to our hotel.  I love doing it this way as each time I am in NYC we stay in different parts of the city, so we are constantly seeing new things.

If you are staying in the Financial District or near the Seaport – here are some absolute must see places.

  1. The newly opened Eataly in Downtown Manhattan.  Holy cow – this place is ah-ma-zing.  I did not think it could get much better after visiting the original Eataly in Midtown, but boy it can.  With 5 incredible restaurants, wine bars, delis at every corner – this is like the most amazing museum of Italian food. Totally worth the trip whether you spend 5 minutes or 5 hours.
  2. The Oculus Transportation Hub – Built near the new ONE World Trade, the Oculus is A MUST see.  Structurally, architecturally and luxuriously stunning in every sense – the new transportation center not only offers SUBWAY and PATH options around the city, but it also boasts incredible luxury shopping as well as dining options.  Plus its just cool to photograph.
  3. Food Options – Every trip to NYC needs to involve a stop at one of the cities amazing bakeries and of course my personal favorite burger joint, Shake Shack.  This trip we visited Tous Les Jours in midtown.  Seriously the BEST pastries around, so soft and just plain amazing.  The interior is decorated like a quaint french patisserie.  Its a perfect place to take a break!
